I.  10th Grade: Unit 4 - Can We Talk or How to ask good questions.
  1. Journaling:  Today you are going to do something a bit different.  You are going to peer edit your partner's journal entry from yesterday.  You will use the Writing Rubric and give a score for each area: Content, Grammar/Syntax, Vocabulary, Oranization, Spelling/Punctuation.  Then, you will discuss your score with your partner and tell her at least one thing you liked about her writing and at least one thing that could be improved.  You will write peer edited by and your name on her journal entry.
  2. Vocabualry Focus for Week 2: homophones or words that sound alike but have different meanings and spellings. Page 62 in your text and page 38 in your workbook.
  3. Vocabulary words for week 2 - Quiz Thursday, 25 April, 2013: dreams, pursue, eventually, different, there, their, write, right, knew, new To practice your words, click here and go to SpellingCity.com
  4. We will be discussing how to show possession and focus on page 63 of your text
  5. Do by the end of class is a worsheet on possession.
  6. For homework do page 39 of your workbook. 

II.  11 Grade Unit 2 - Real-Life Heros
  1. Journaling: Today you are going to do something a bit different. You are going to peer edit your partner's journal entry from yesterday. Then, you will discuss your score with your partner and tell her at least one thing you liked about her writing and at least one thing that could be improved. You will write peer edited by and your name on her journal entry.
  2. Focus for Week 2: compound words and time adverbs: dishwasher, lawnmower, haircut, when, while, before, after, motionless, inflate, inject. To practice your words, click here and go to SpellingCity.com
  3. Go to pages 26 in your text to cover compound words. Do page 14 in your workbook. After you complete questions number 1 & 2, think of two of your own compound words and write a sentence using both.
  4. Finish the plot sequence for Ron Wall's heroic story.

            Finally, go to page 27 of your text.
      6.  With your partner, do the jumbled sentence activity. 
            You will each write your own sentences and turn them in for a grade by the end of class.
      7.   Do page 15 your workbook for homework.
